The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is aiming to oust another House Democrat as divisions between the organization and the left continue to fuel chaos in the party.

The national DSA confirmed to Fox News Digital on Monday that it is supporting Donavan McKinney, the Michigan state attorney, over Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich.

Thanedar made headlines for his intention to criticize President Donald Trump and similar threats to several Cabinet officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He also pushed legislation to pave the way for a national reparations program to pay black Americans.

But he is still attacking members of the far left, and self-proclaimed Democratic Socialists also support McKinney.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vt., and DSA Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., is among the sitting members of Congress who supported McKinney over Thanedar.

Thanedar, who is running for a third term representing his home district of blue-blue Detroit, resigned his DSA membership in October 2023 because of the stance of his social workers on the attack on Oct. 7 in Israel.

“After the brutal terrorist attacks in Israel, including the indiscriminate killing, rape, and kidnapping of innocent men, women and children, I can no longer associate myself with an organization that is not willing to declare all forms of terrorism,” Thanedar said in the days following the terrorist attack.

McKinney was already certified by the Detroit-area DSA. His endorsement by the national party was first reported by Politico.

A number of House Democrats are already victims of the left-wing wave sweeping the country, especially in the party’s strongest quarters.

Rep. Dan Goldman, DN.Y., and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Adriano Espaillat, DN.Y., lost their respective primary races to left-leaning challengers.

DSA-backed Melat Kiros unseated Denver-area Rep. Diane DeGette, D-Colo., a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Republicans held up their victory as evidence that Democrats are moving further to the left and away from where the majority of Americans are politically.

Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, one of the most vulnerable Democrats in this election cycle, told Fox News’ “Saturday America,” “As a Democrat, I reject what the DSA is doing. I’ve read their platform, and it’s strong.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Thanedar’s campaign for comment but did not immediately respond.
