Opener: Red Sox, Caminero, Garcia

Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber hit his league-leading 30th home run on Sunday, a two-run shot in the seventh inning against the Mets. Schwarber set his career high with 56 home runs in 2025. He did it in 724 plate appearances. The slugger reached the 30-homer mark in 356 plate appearances this year, hitting 60 in the game.

1. The Red Sox completely swept the Yankees

Boston took all four games against New York, completing the sweep with a narrow win on Sunday Night Baseball. The Red Sox need more innings to make it after the close Aroldis Chapman could not hold a double lead. A confusing error from the right-hander Wilyer Abreu it didn’t help. The Yankees appeared to be on their way to saving the series after scoring two runs in the 10th inning. Boston quickly erased the deficit on two hits and a sac fly. Jarren Duran then he won it with one of the five players inside. Late fireworks are disrupted Sonny Graya gem. The veteran righty did not score in the eighth inning. He struck out nine and finished seven frames for the third straight.

2. Caminero homers for the fourth straight game

Rays third baseman Little Caminero launched a 463-foot run off Merrill Kelly in the fifth inning in Sunday’s win over the Diamondbacks. The blast gave him a homer in each game of the sweep against Arizona. Caminero has now been out of the yard in four straight games. He has six home runs in that span. The 22-year-old is consistent with the power production he showed last season, but with a more refined plate demeanor. Caminero has cut his strikeout rate to under 17.5% while walking twice as many times as in previous years. He ranks 7th among professional hitters with a 154 wRC+.

3. Garcia goes double deep

Speaking of hot hitters, the Nationals first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. he hit two more home runs on Sunday against the Orioles. Despite starting four of Washington’s seven games, he finished the week with six long balls. Garcia has been miserable in June, posting a 1.143 OPS in 79 at-bats. His 11 home runs are the most by a Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman for the league to go ahead this month. The team-happy Nationals will face an interesting decision this week. They will open the series against the Red Sox on Monday with three lefties. Garcia has been given just 28 plate appearances against southpaws this season. He has a 114 wRC+ in those limited opportunities, so maybe the Nats will keep him on the roster.
