Warriors Eye Blockbuster With LeBron James and Anthony Davis

The NBA offseason hasn’t officially started yet, but the speculation surrounding the Golden State Warriors has reached a new level.

Multiple league sources indicate that Golden State is exploring a potential move to bring both LeBron James and Anthony Davis to the Bay Area.

The plan reportedly starts with acquiring Davis before trying to lure James once free agency opens.

“A trade for Davis would have to include Jimmy Butler, who is under a $57 million contract while he recovers from a torn ACL. The Warriors would also have to put in the necessary cash — they have two future starters and four first-round picks to work with in any deal,” reports Kevin O’Connor.

“Sources say the Warriors hope that adding Davis will help lure LeBron from Los Angeles to the Bay Area when free agency officially opens Tuesday. The pitch will be simple: meet AD, meet Steph Curry and Draymond Green, play for Steve Kerr, and chase another championship with a legendary roster.”

However, Washington seems reluctant to move Davis.

“He wants to be here. We want him here,” Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said during ESPN’s draft. “We will have that discussion in mid-August when we will have it officially.”

The uncertainty surrounding Butler also remains a big factor.

“When I trade, I trade. Their job is to win.” Butler said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. If they feel that someone can help them do that in a faster time than whenever I come back, they should go and do it. But from now on, I am here.”
