Taylor Swift’s wedding venue was kept a secret from other guests until days ago: source

NEW YORK — Even some of the invited guests didn’t know the location of the wedding between Taylor Swift and her Super Bowl-winning beau, Travis Kelce, as recently as Sunday, according to a source with knowledge of the event — as New York City officials prepare dates for the wedding at Madison Square Garden this week.

Details about the wedding remain scarce, but Fox News Digital reported Tuesday that the NYPD is preparing for an event that runs from Thursday into Saturday morning and includes road closures, hundreds of VIPs and more, according to another source.

Although city leaders expect Swift and Kelce to get married in the Garden, according to a source, because of the pop star’s wealth and “Easter egg” connections, there is still speculation that the event planned at the home of the NBA champion Knicks could be a pump fake.

“Let’s see if Taylor gets here, or if this is all a prank,” said Paul Mauro, a retired NYPD inspector who previously worked in security at MSG events. “He has the money to rent the Garden or any other place he wants, and then he can get married somewhere else.”

The stadium, which sits atop the Pennsylvania Station commuter rail hub, is surrounded by subway lines, New Jersey Transit, Long Island Rail Road and Amtrak service, making it one of the busiest transit hubs in the country. It already hosts many police and National Guardsmen.

“You will see all the facilities,” said Mauro. “You’re going to see horses. You’re going to see ESU guys, which is SWAT, and clothes and long guns. You’re going to see all of that. But there’s also going to be a lot of things that you don’t see … You’re going to have a lot of intelligence equipment that’s being used, things that might be there a little bit there might be federal aged. represented because, like I said, you’re going to come on the fourth of July regardless of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, this is going to be a work base.

Penn Station is also the city’s gateway to the World Cup games hosted in nearby New Jersey. Passengers and tourists arrive and depart at all hours. And less than 10 blocks away, on Saturday, July 4, Times Square will host a celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday.

“There’s a lot going on underground here,” Mauro said. “They’ve got to consider all that. You’ve got to keep the trains moving. It’s the big elevator of New York City. I’ve no doubt they’ll pass.”

The NYPD has been doing it for decades, after all. Mauro pointed to President John F. Kennedy’s famous birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden – when Marilyn Monroe graced the president with her epic “Happy Birthday” – and Mick Jagger’s birthday celebration at the end of the Rolling Stones tour – and President Donald Trump had a campaign rally inside during the 2024 campaign.

Derrick Parker, a former member of the NYPD’s hip-hop intelligence unit who was tasked with monitoring the comings and goings of high-profile visitors in the 1990s and 2000s, told Fox News Digital that the police department is preparing for what is expected to be a “crazy weekend” between the World Cup, Independence Day and Kelce’s Swift wedding.

“A lot will go into planning,” he said. “Who is there [the wedding]? Who has problems with each other? That’s always a big concern. Will people come and oppose it? He had those who ambushed him. I’m sure there will be people watching.”

Police preparations are expected to include closing 31st Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, on the south side of the Garden, to protect the entrance to the parking garage where about 500 vehicles are expected to bring VIP guests to and from the wedding on Friday.

“One of the things you have to consider when doing this level of security is who is picking up the ropes,” said Mauro. “The private security that goes on here, including what they call off-duty — those are officers who are allowed to work security on their own time, but they’re not allowed to wear a uniform…That’s paid for by the Garden. But, of course, all the other NYPD assets that are installed here, including some that are now stationed on 31st Street, are not paid for by taxpayers out of the ordinary.”
