Logan Webb deletes X account after criticizing reporter, Giants fans following embarrassing loss

The offseason struggles of the San Francisco Giants have been overwhelming for Logan Webb, and the frustration has spread online for all to see.

On Wednesday, following the Blue Jays’ loss at Oracle Park, the All-Star pitcher began trading photos with critics on X before eventually deleting his account.

The backlash began after KNBR’s Jack Loder posted a video criticizing the Giants’ “emptiness of leadership” and questioning whether Webb has been living up to his billing as a quarterback.

“When someone has to be your ace, you think they’re going to give you the best chance to win every week,” Loder said. “Logan Webb had an amazing June, he was bad in April, he missed most of May. I’ve said over the years that he’s been a great Giant, like I really appreciate his performance for the Giants. But it’s been a little lacking.”

Webb lost control, following Loder, posted: “You know it’s sad that they allow people like you in the locker room.”

When KNBR host Adam Copeland got on the phone, Webb shut him down with a quick side swipe:

“Who are you?”

When another user called his public responses embarrassing, Webb responded, “Are you getting paid by KNBR?”

In one critical account, he dismissed: “Honestly you probably don’t know anything about anything else lost in bed that his little league team can’t do.”

Whether or not Webb returns to X, he’ll have a lot of explaining to do.

The social media back and forth followed a bad night on the mound.

Webb gave up the first five runs, including a grand slam to Kazuma Okamoto. He settled down to finish seven innings, but the bullpen showed up, and the Giants offense was nearly outscored by Dylan Cease 10-0.

First-year manager Tony Vitello, fresh out of Tennessee, is navigating a rough first season, and his tough college coaching style has come under scrutiny as the losses have piled up.

Webb is headed to the All-Star Game next week.

But instead of asking questions about his season, he’ll likely be responding to his setbacks on social media.
