After NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s request to LeBron James, one insider revealed how much LeBron doesn’t care.
Silver came out and said that with James’ long-term decision on which team he will sign with next season, he holds the entire schedule for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Brian Windhorst explained that LeBron is not on anyone else’s schedule, and will be taking his sweet time with his free agency decision.
“That’s one thing I can say with confidence,” Windhorst said on NBA Today. “LeBron doesn’t care about taking over the league with his system. He’s going to make them wait until he’s good and ready to make a decision.”
Late last week, Silver publicly voiced his concerns about scheduling, stating that the league can’t finalize its major television dates until the league knows where James, 41, will be playing in Year 24.
“I think all politics is local. The way I think, we have to finish the program,” Silver said during the Fanatics Fest in New York. “We have to finalize the schedule, and where LeBron plays affects the schedule. So I’d like him to make his announcement already, so we can finalize the schedule. Because as you can imagine, teams are calling, networks are calling, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule. It’s going to affect how we set the schedule, opening week, Christmas Day, etc. So I need him to make a decision.”
Over the past few days, Miami has grown as the betting favorite to land LeBron.
Pat Riley made his intentions clear, explaining how the Heat are ‘going down the plane’ with the signing of Giannis Antetokounmpo, but said, “there’s another one we’ve got to get to.”
Wimdhorst said, “Pat Riley said, we got one plane down, now we’re going to ground another one. I don’t think he was talking about KCP. I think they got flight 7 today. I think they’d like to put No.6 back in the program. Pat came out and let it be known. We’re not done yet. We want to.” [LeBron].”
