Queens Molotov church suspect faces arson charges

Yogesh Sayrange, 36, is accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at two Queens churches and a nearby commercial building Wednesday night before police arrested him with other incendiary devices, according to police and law enforcement sources.

Sayrange allegedly went to Iglesia Bautista El Mesias in the Ozone Park area before 11pm, where a video shows him talking to three other men before lighting a Molotov cocktail and throwing it at the front gate near the church door.

A bottle caught fire near the front door before Sayrange left, according to surveillance video published by the New York Post.

The FDNY confirmed to Fox News Digital that it received a call at 11:57 pm Wednesday about a reported device thrown at a church on 75th Street in Ozone Park. Firefighters and the NYPD are investigating.

Police say Sayrange then walked less than a mile to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in nearby Woodhaven, where he allegedly threw another Molotov cocktail at the building’s front gate, sparking a second fire.

The FDNY also confirmed to Fox News Digital that it received a second call at 12:08 a.m. Thursday about a reported device being thrown at a church on 78th Street in Woodhaven. Firefighters and the NYPD are investigating.

Police said no injuries or major damage were reported at either church.

Investigators later determined that Sayrange also threw a third cocktail in an ambulatory on Rockaway Boulevard near 77th Street in Woodhaven at the same time, police said.

No injuries or damage were reported there, police said.

Police arrested Sayrange around 12:10 a.m. Thursday and found two Molotov cocktails in his bag, according to police sources.

Investigators are also looking into whether Sayrange may have been connected to several similar incidents dating back to last month, according to law enforcement sources. Authorities have not publicly announced any additional charges against him.

Sayrange appeared in federal court Thursday on a felony charge of throwing a dangerous substance at a Brooklyn business on June 25.
