President Donald Trump has threatened to “destroy and destroy” Iran if Tehran makes threats to kill him, as the US Treasury Department sanctions an Iranian financier.
Iran said on Saturday that this new financial measure is a violation of the first agreement the two warring countries made last month as it was reported that its foreign minister had arrived in Oman to speak.
“1000 Missiles Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow soon, if the Iranian Government carries out its threat, announced in many corners of the World, to kill, or attempt to kill, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump posted on Truth Social late Friday US time.
“The orders have already been given, and the US Military is ready, willing, and able, for a period of one year, under extension, to completely eliminate and destroy all areas of Iran – PRAISE ALLAH!,” he added.
The Wall Street Journal and other American media reported earlier this week that Israel had shared intelligence about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Trump.
According to a Reuters report, some mourners at the funeral on Thursday of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US airstrike at the start of the war, held placards reading: “We will kill Trump”.

The US president’s latest speech came after a day of calm following a week of fighting and fears that the ceasefire could be broken.
Trump said earlier Friday that the United States and Iran had agreed to continue peace talks, despite the withdrawal of the ceasefire established by the initial agreement last month.
In the Truth Social letter, Trump said the Islamic Republic “asked us to continue ‘negotiations'” and that we “agreed to do so.”
“But the United States told them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is over!” Trump wrote.
Iran’s state news channels did not immediately confirm or deny that they had asked to resume talks.
‘Technical discussions’
Trump’s post on Friday initially confirmed a MS NOW report, citing an American official, that the warring powers will engage in “technical discussions” and commit to finding solutions despite returning to conflict.
The US military has carried out renewed strikes against Iran in retaliation for three commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to be attacked. The US Treasury subsequently revoked the waiver that had allowed Iran to sell its oil.
The Treasury then stepped up pressure on Iran by punishing a financial suspect accused of helping new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late leader Ali Khamenei.
“After Iran resumed attacks on international ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the Treasury Department of the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action against the Iranian financier Ali Ansari (Ansari), who oversees a global network of assets that benefit the leader of Iran – said the statement of the Iranian government – Mojtaba.
“The self-proclaimed Supreme Leader hid alone while his empire collapsed,” Treasury Secretary Scott Besent was quoted as saying in a statement. “The Treasury Department will continue to use every tool at its disposal to isolate itself and others at the top of the global financial system. We will preserve these assets for the people of Iran.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the move was a violation of the June agreement on cooperation between the US and Iran.
“Iran has kept its word so far, unlike the so-called US Treasury Secretary who violated Para 9 of the MoU,” Araghchi said in the X post.
“That violation follows other violations and missteps by the United States. Reality check: There can only be compliance,” he added.
Iran’s official Tasnim News Agency reported that Araghchi arrived in Oman early Saturday to speak. Oman has been a key mediator in efforts to end the war.
