The new iRobot floor cleaner is not a robot

iRobot recently announced its first non-robot vacuum cleaner. The $399 Roomba Electro Plus is a 5-in-1 hard floor cleaner that combines cleaning, mopping, and disinfecting, but you have to do it yourself. The company also announced updates to its line of Roomba robotic vacuums, introducing five new models with higher suction power, smaller footprints, and lower prices. These replace most of the line that arrived in 2025.
Designed specifically for hard floors, the new Electro Plus is like a new breed of wet floor cleaners available from Dreme, Roborock, and others. The iRobot’s distinguishing feature is the Electro’s ability to turn regular tap water into a commercial-grade disinfectant cleaning solution that is safe for children and pets by electrifying it.
A cordless vacuum/mop has a self-cleaning roller mop and a motor to help propel it, reducing the amount of manual effort required. Its charging dock washes and dries the mop after use with hot water and hot air, but you need to drain, clean, and refill its water tank.

iRobot says the Electro Plus is something its customers have been asking for, and it fills the void in their homes. “If they have a mess they want to clean up, they probably want to do it quickly with this kind of handheld product,” said iRobot senior engineer and vice president Adam Pope. The Verge. “Personally, I love that I can clean my bathroom and kitchen with it and let the Roomba take care of the rest of the house.”
A key innovation in Electro Plus is that it does not require a separate cleaning solution. Instead, it uses electrolyzing technology developed by iRobot’s parent company, Picea, which turns tap water into a commercial-grade sanitizing solution capable of killing 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other germs.
Picea, which served as ODM for iRobot, acquired the company this year following its bankruptcy. The companies were already working together – the lidar-based Roomba lineup launched in 2025 was made with Picea.

Along with the Electro Plus, iRobot has launched five new Roomba robot vacuums in the US. These new models, first announced in Europe in May, are incremental updates to those robots, coupled with a significant price drop.
The high-end Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + Auto Wash Dock ($999.99) is an upgrade to the Roomba Max 705 Combo ($1,299.99). Adds increased suction power (30,000Pa), hot water mop washing, and hot spot cleaning to the robot.
The Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot + Auto Empty Dock ($699.99), updates the Roomba Max 705 ($899.99) with increased suction power, 30,000Pa up from 13,000Pa, and a lower price. Both robots have Roomba’s signature dual-rubber brush with resistive technology, as well as the lidar navigation and AI-powered obstacle detection of previous models.
The midrange Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($799.99) replaces the Roomba 505 ($999.99) and is about half the size, thanks to a new double-lidar sensor. iRobot senior engineer and vice president Adam Pope tells The Verge This new technology has enabled them to fit more technology into a smaller space. With a clearance of 9 cm and a narrow width, the 575 should easily fit under furniture and cabinets.

The spinning robot vacuum has dual spinning pads, boost to 20,000Pa suction, hot water mop washing and drying, and an internal water tank. It uses a camera for AI-powered obstacle and dirt detection, enabling a Smart Scrub feature that can go back and forth across dirty areas. It can now also climb over thresholds of up to 35mm.
The same goes for the Roomba Plus 515 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($699.99), which has the same performance as the 575, with a lower clearance limit, lower suction power, and no camera, so there is no barrier to AI capabilities or spot detection.

The Roomba Plus 415 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($599.99) replaces the Roomba 405 ($799.99), adding extra suction power, anti-drip brush technology, and the ability to extend its mops. The 515 does not have an internal water tank and does not use hot water to wash its mops.
The US list does not include the Roomba Plus 615 and Roomba 675 models, or the entry-level Roomba 115 Combo, available in other countries. All new models are available for pre-order today, July 7, at irobot.com.
