GTA VI finally gets the price tag and no-disc rule for the portable version

Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the asking price of its highly anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto VI aka GTA 6. The game will cost $79.99 in the US for the standard edition, and if you’re willing to shell out more for the Ultimate Edition, you’ll have to part with $99.99 per copy. Pre-orders for the game start today, June 26, at midnight, and you will be able to reserve a copy for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
The asking price is definitely on the high side. However, it is still below the $100+ speculation that has been floating around for the past few weeks. By PC and console gaming standards, $80 as a starting price is still quite a lot. So far, only Nintendo has been able to sell games with the same price tag and it has had a lot of setbacks, too.
What’s inside the package?
“Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25, including Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, which expands the deepest and most immersive GTA experience yet with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, costumes and actions taken from all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story,” the studio’s announcement said.
The studio notes that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be a single-player experience when it arrives on Sony and Xbox consoles on November 19. For people who pre-order the game, they will also get Vintage Vice City. If you place an order for the digital version of the game before November 19, you will be able to pre-load the game on November 12. Pre-orders of the game will also be rewarded with a free GTA+ subscription for the month.
If you collect money in the last edition of the game, you get a lot of additional goodies, such as special sports cars with a retro-futuristic design, special engraved weapons and a range of high-performance, personal variants of these weapons, a style inspired by the Deputy City of clothes and tattoos, a safe house car, special salons, street clothes and styles of each style. clothes, and a special garage, to name a few.
No-disc caveat

The physical version of the game, on the other hand, will be available from November 12, and will come with a download code inside the box. The decision to ship a portable version of the game without a proper disc has already sparked a lot of controversy on social media. Many ardent fans are questioning the reason for the decision, saying that with a studio with so much money in its coffers, why wouldn’t the company provide copies of the game.
A few souls on social media argue that by skipping the physical disc, Rockstar Games is reducing the chances of leaks and banning resale. On the other hand, having a physical copy of a game around has a lot of collectible value, especially for a game with a huge cultural impact.
