Fujifilm introduces QuickSnap waterproof, black and white disposable cameras

FUJIFILM Corp. has announced two new models of its QuickSnap disposable camera, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, as it taps into the growing interest in analog photography.
The brand launched the waterproof model QuickSnap Active in early August, while the black and white model QuickSnap Black and White will be available from September, it said on its global website. Pricing details were not immediately available.
“Fujifilm will continue to expand the QuickSnap photography experience, allowing anyone to enjoy film photography by simply developing film and pressing the shutter,” it said.
Local availability details have yet to be announced, but Fujifilm Philippines’ print division Fujifilm Prints has already teased the new QuickSnap models on its social media channels.
The QuickSnap Active waterproof model will allow users to take photos underwater at depths of up to 10 meters. It is enclosed in a hard plastic housing, making it ideal for use in outdoor activities at the beach, pool, or even in winter or rainy conditions.
The camera has an improved film knob compared to the standard QuickSnap model, as well as a lever-style shutter button, which makes operation easier even underwater or while wearing gloves.
Comes with ISO 800 135 Color negative film with 27 exposures. However, the QuickSnap Active does not have a flash.
Meanwhile, the QuickSnap Black and White model is equipped with a black and white film that is characterized by sharp images and smooth grain.
“By displaying black and white images, it allows users to capture everyday moments, such as street scenes or time spent with loved ones, without the need for special settings or advanced techniques, and turn them into unique and artistic images,” said Fujifilm.
It added that the disposable camera is compatible with the same processing chemicals used for color negative film.
Comes with ISO 400 135 Black and White negative film with 27 exposures. It has a built-in flash with a range of 3 meters, which can be activated with a switch.
Meanwhile, the brand is also releasing the QuickSnap Hand Strap accessory separately.
“Introduced in July 1986, QuickSnap, the world’s first single-use camera, was developed with the idea of allowing anyone to take pictures easily, anytime and anywhere. It expanded the role of photography beyond capturing special occasions such as tours and events, making it possible to casually record everyday life and thus expand the reach of photographic culture,” said Fujifilm.
“QuickSnap celebrates 40 years of existence in July 2026 and has sold more than 1.7 billion units worldwide to date. Today, its unique features, including the excitement of not knowing how the photos will turn out until the development and the unique, atmospheric quality of the photos, continue to affect many users, especially among young people.” – Bettina V.
