According to Mexican officials, the accident occurred when the tractor-trailer failed to brake and hit a line of cars that had stopped due to a previous accident.

“According to initial reports, the vehicle reportedly failed in its braking system and ended up hitting several vehicles that were stopped due to the previous incident,” said the Mexican Army, Air Force and National Guard.
