Anthony Rizzo rips Jazz Chisholm Jr. after the Yankees were eliminated from Fenway

Former New York Yankees player Jazz Chisholm Jr. didn’t like the way the star second baseman handled himself in the lead up to Sunday night’s loss to the Boston Red Sox.
The Yankees were swept out of Fenway Park in four games in a weekend to forget, and that frustration came to a head when Chisholm took issue with home plate umpire Adam Hamari’s third-inning call.
Chisholm, who threw his helmet during the heated play, was ejected from the game despite efforts by his manager, Aaron Boone, and first base coach Dan Fiorito to calm the infielder’s anger.

Anthony Rizzo, who used to play next to Chisholm in the early pinstripes, was broadcasting for NBC/Peacock on Sunday night, where he leaned on his behavior.
“You have to be smarter there,” Rizzo said. “The Jazz are a big part of this offense and they need to get him going and get him out of there. …shows a little immaturity there.”

The Yankees have now lost seven of their last 10 home games, hitting a fan skid in the middle of the season as summer begins. New York has struggled with consistency in the summer in recent seasons, and even though they are in contention for the playoffs, it’s a skid that Rizzo said players like Chisholm need to see.
“The team is fighting, they need him in the list, now he is included [Anthony] Volpe is in a tough situation, he’s going to be completely cold,” Rizzo added.

The worst thing is that Chishom did not stay in the clubhouse after losing to the Red Sox 5-4, he left before the reporters entered. Instead of facing the music, journalists will have to ask themselves another time.
However, Chisholm has never shied away from sharing his feelings on any topic since entering the league with the Miami Marlins. He was traded to the Yankees before the MLB deadline in 2024, where he has been ever since.
But it’s a free year for the second baseman, who said before the 2026 campaign that his goal was a 50-50 season like Shohei Ohtani accomplished. However, Ohtani is the only player in MLB history to do so. Chisholm, who set a career high with 31 homers in 2025, has 12 hits this year with 24 stolen bases.

Chisholm is slashing .223/.306/.399 with a .706 OPS, which would be his lowest mark of his career if the season ended today (excluding 21 games with Miami in 2020).
The Yankees are also without three-time AL MVP Aaron Judge, who continues to rehabilitate a stress fracture in his rib. There is no timetable for his return.
