LeBron James is still the biggest name available in free agency, and while speculation continues about where the four-time NBA champion will play next, Draymond Green believes many people are underestimating just how much influence James has.
The Warriors forward explained that James’ value goes beyond what he does on the court, highlighting his basketball skills and the huge economic impact he has wherever he plays.
“People don’t understand the weight of LeBron James,” Green said on the Draymond Green Show. “Nevertheless, after 24 years, I still think that people still do not understand the power, the weight that this boy carries.
“Also, basketball, anytime LeBron James is down, A your team has a chance to win. But B, you have to answer for him in a big way.”
James has yet to announce where he will continue his career, making him the biggest domino left in the NBA offseason.
Each team’s connection to the future Hall of Famer has become the subject of widespread speculation, with franchises hoping his arrival could quickly change their championship vision.
Golden State is among the teams that are still negotiating with James after his agent, Rich Paul, identified them as one of the organizations that can take the top player.
The move to Golden State will reunite James with his longtime friend Green while building one of the most successful players in NBA history along with Stephen Curry.
The pairing would immediately give the Warriors another legitimate shot at an NBA championship.
However, no timetable has been set for James to make his decision. Until then, the league continues to wait for the summer’s all-important free agency.
