Genesis Scottish Open tee times: What you need to know
Of course, Rory McIlroy is using this week’s Scottish Open to prepare for next week’s Open Championship, the last major of the year.
But that doesn’t mean the six-time major league champion isn’t trying to win his second career title here at the Renaissance Club. Need proof? Just look at his results in Thursday’s opening round.
Although he got off to a rough start with a bogey on 10, his first hole of the day, McIlroy rallied in Round 1 to make an eagle and five birdies, including two straight to close out his round. That left him with a five-under 65 and a share of the early lead.
Now a fan favorite and World No. 2 will try to maintain their good form in Friday’s second round.
McIlroy prepares for Round 2 on Friday at 8:43 am ET with playing partners Robert MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup.
