When Zhao Xin Fu was 17, a lump appeared on his neck, quickly growing to the size of a chicken egg. But he chose to ignore the problem—the tumor was painless and didn’t bother him. Even as the tumor grew larger each year, he didn’t seek medical attention. He believed treatment would be too expensive.
This continued for 47 years. The man managed to get married, have a son, and grow old. Only recently, when the old man was already 64, did his son Jiang Jiang convince him to go to the hospital and give him the money for an operation.

By that time, the tumor on his neck had grown several times larger than his head and weighed 15 kg. It was so massive that it was affecting his balance while walking.

It took surgeons at a clinic in Guizhou Province 10 hours to remove a massive tumor from his neck. The tumor turned out to be a noncancerous lipoma. Such tumors are caused by the excessive growth of fat cells. Lipomas are usually small, and only in very advanced cases, as in this case, do they become truly enormous.

The man is currently recovering from the surgery. He says it feels very strange to be without the 15-kilogram “bag” around his neck, and his son has never seen his father in a normal state—without the tumor.
