Leftist broadcaster Hasan Piker told New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani to “shut the f— up” and urged progressives to boldly present their policies during an interview aired Wednesday on Zeteo’s “We’re Not Kidding” podcast in Washington, DC.

“I just listened to his new New York Times interview where the New York Times asked him, like, ‘If you had unlimited money, what would you do?'” Piker said. “He’s like, ‘The exact same policies I use.’ I’m like, ‘Shut the if— up, man.'”

Piker’s criticism came amid a wide-ranging discussion with Zeteo founder Mehdi Hasan about whether left-wing politicians are too concerned with optics and too willing to back down if their positions are criticized.

Piker said politicians, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D.N.Y., runs the risk of appearing uncommitted to their positions if they sound hesitant or defensive.

“If you come across, like, a little anxious or a little defensive, people will respond with, ‘Oh, maybe he doesn’t believe this,'” Piker said.

The Twitch streamer continued that line of criticism of Ocasio-Cortez, saying she has embraced ambitious policies but sometimes focuses too much on public perception.

“The way he behaves, I think, is a lot less, like, optics-driven, a lot more liberal and a lot more driven,” Piker said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

FLASHBACK: MAMDANI’S HISTORY OF QUESTIONING WHERE SHE STANDS

Piker compared Ocasio-Cortez to Mamdani, crediting her for combining progressive policies with language that can reach a liberal and less traditional audience.

“I think Zohran has done a great job of bringing those two countries together where they speak the language of freedom,” Piker said.

Hasan asked if Piker wanted the interview to end with him telling one of his political supporters to “shut the f— up.” Piker emphasized that his upset was not due to rest with Mamdani.

“I mean, come on,” Piker said. “I love the boy. I have my differences with him from time to time.”

Piker later adopted Hasan’s revised definition of the approach he sought from progressive politicians.

“He’s brave, he’s brave and he’s unapologetic,” Piker said.
