OA will call a midfielder Tommy White in Friday’s series opener for the Nationals, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. It will be the first major league game for the former LSU standout.

The team’s activity log on MLB.com shows the A’s are also active recently Donovan Walton. First baseman Joey Meneses and the hunter Brian Serven were optioned to Triple-A, which left one active roster spot for a position player. White is not on the 40-man roster but could be a replacement Brent Rookerout for the season and may be placed on the 60-day disabled list.

White was one of the best hitters in the country during his college career, hitting .355/.419/.704 over three seasons. However, he fell to the second round of the 2024 draft due to concerns over aggressiveness and his poor third base defense. White has been a clean hitter throughout his minor league career, but he’s never drawn many walks or hit a ton for power. He owns a .279/.337/.430 slash line across 860 plate appearances.

More to come.
