Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup could cost hundreds more this year

The next generation of Samsung’s foldable smartphones could come with much higher price tags than its predecessors. According to information shared by Roland Quandt of WinFuture, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Watch 9 lineup are all expected to see a price increase in Europe when they are unveiled later this month.
While flagship smartphones have been getting more expensive over the past few years, leaked pricing suggests that Samsung may be taking another big step up, especially for consumers who prefer higher storage options.
Samsung’s premium folders may fetch an additional premium
Samsung is expected to announce its new folders at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, but vendor information obtained by Roland Quandt and WinFuture already reveals what European buyers are likely to pay. The most expensive device on the list will be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which replaces last year’s standard Fold as Samsung’s flagship. The base 256GB model is said to cost €2,199 (about US$2,507), which represents a €100 (US$114) increase over its predecessor.
The price increase is even higher with the larger storage options. The 512GB version is expected to sell for €2,399 (about $2,735), up €180 (US$205), while the 1TB model could go for €2,799 (about US$3,191), marking a whopping increase of €280 (US$319). Samsung’s foldable clamshell is also expected to be more expensive. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is said to start at €1,299 (about $1,481) for the 256GB storage, while the 512GB model will cost €1,499 (about US$1,709), representing increases of €100 (US$114) and €180 (US$205) respectively.
The big surprise is the arrival of the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is expected to start folding as a foldable device placed under the Ultra model. According to the leak, it will start at €1,999 for 256GB, while the 512GB and 1TB variants are expected to cost €2,199 and €2,599, respectively. Unlike the Ultra, the regular Fold is expected to make compromises in areas such as the camera system, including the omission of a dedicated zoom camera.
Samsung’s smartwatch lineup may see higher prices. The Galaxy Watch 9 is said to start at €409 for the 40mm Bluetooth version, with LTE models commanding an additional premium. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could be launched for €749, about €50 more than its predecessor.

If the leak proves to be accurate, Samsung’s strategy seems clear: place foldables and wearables even more in the premium space. For consumers, however, that can make the buying decision more difficult, especially as competitors like Google, Honor, OnePlus, and Vivo continue to push foldable hardware while keeping prices competitive.
None of these prices have been officially confirmed by Samsung, and regional prices may vary when devices are launched globally. However, with only a few weeks left before the Galaxy Unpacked, the leak provides one of the clearest indications that Samsung’s new phones could also be very expensive.
