Mets Outright Zack Short – MLB Trade Rumors

The Mets sent an infielder Zack Short straight to Triple-A, according to his MLB transaction tracker. With Francisco Lindor returning to the team on Wednesday, Mtuntu was selected for the assignment. He has cleared waivers and will head to Syracuse, unless he declines an assignment. Short has been mentioned before and can opt for free agency.
The 31-year-old shortstop appeared in three games with New York. He went 1-for-8 with five strikeouts in his short time on the roster. The Mets held Short off waivers from the Tigers a few weeks ago. He hit .167 in 46 plate appearances with Detroit this year.
It’s been an intense campaign for Short, who has spent time with four organizations since March. He signed a minor league contract with the Yankees over the winter. The Nationals got Short in a cash deal just before Opening Day. After about a month in Washington’s minor league system, the Demo was dealt to the Tigers, and again received money. In six weeks with Detroit, Short was DFAed, elected free agency, re-signed with the team, then DFAed again.
Mfishane spent time with five teams in six major league seasons. He has a 58 wRC+ in 649 plate appearances at the highest level. Short’s main contributions came from working in a variety of ways on defense. He has been a pass-rushing outfielder at second base, third base, and shortstop. And Lindor is back again Ronny Mauricio and healthy, Short may be more fortunate to get another big league opportunity with a different organization.
