Sony is still selling last year’s OLED TV for $600 off – and I highly recommend it

Amazon’s Prime Day sale is over, but Sony TV deals are few and far between. If you have been watching the Bravia 8 II as an upgrade for your living room or home theater, you can get the 65-inch model for $600 off now when you buy directly from Sony with this competitive Prime Day deal.

The 55-inch model is also on sale — for a $300 discount — but both sizes are still expensive, selling for more than $2,200 with this discount.
I got to test the Bravia 8 II at ZDNET’s test lab, and I was very impressed with the image quality. While you’ll get a darker screen than other OLEDs from LG and Samsung, you’ll get the ability to fine-tune your picture settings for everything from streaming to concert gaming.
Update: Sony Bravia 8 II OLED TV
You can also adjust the sound settings to take full advantage of Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology and Dolby Atmos integration. With Acoustic Surface Audio+, Sony places tiny activators behind the OLED panel to turn the entire screen into a speaker capable of tracking an object. This gives you a more immersive experience without the hassle of setting up different home audio equipment, and delivers nearly identical audio and video synchronization.
The Bravia 8 II handles everything from Hollywood classics in black and white to triple-A gaming on PlayStation 5 with ease, automatically switching picture and sound modes when the TV detects the console is connected and turned on, or when a supported streaming app is launched.
I Bravia 8 II includes VRR support for console gaming to help eliminate annoying screen tearing and stuttering that can occur when your frame rate drops. With the Google TV platform, you’ll get a preloaded lineup of apps like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max so you can start watching your favorite shows and movies right on the box. You’ll also get integrated voice controls with Google Assistant or Alexa to use your new TV hands-free.
How did I rate this deal?
Sony’s Bravia 8 II OLED is a high-end TV with a price tag to match. It’s not often you see steep discounts on these models, and with Sony’s $600 discount on one of the best OLED TVs on the market, you’re getting an even better value. That’s why I gave this deal a 3/5 Editor’s rating.
