Justin Verlander Will Miss Several Weeks With Hamstring Strain

Written by Darragh McDonald | on June 19, 2026 2:00pm CDT

It was reported earlier this week that the right-handed batsman Justin Verlander will come off the 60-day injured list to start Sunday’s game, at righty Keider Montero he moved to the barn. That won’t happen anymore. Verlander injured his left hamstring while throwing in the bullpen on Wednesday and has now been diagnosed with a strain that will sideline him for several weeks, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Stavenhagen added that Montero will start that game instead.

More to come.
